Sunita Agarwal

As a resident of city of joy - Kolkata, which valued culture more than anything else and  I could see  each moment of life in slow motion -  I got opportunity to see humanity closely ie... the different moods , thoughts , emotions , joy and sorrow - each of them influenced my thoughts

I was always drawn towards human emotions and expressions ;  to me, it was magical to be able to put them on canvas which enthusiastically motivated me to become realistic artist. Luckily for me , my cousin , herself in art , put pencils at my hands at early age of 4 yrs and imparted the initial strokes - I never needed to look back again . I begin drawing attention of teachers , local elders and colleagues alike . Soon I was requested by the neighbourhood and  began giving classes to young children in locality - each time I clarified the doubt of each child , it perfected the child in my ownself and got opportunity to study the innocence and each human being as at its infancy

There is always a story telling element in my creative process highlighting social issues on woman and children. It illustrates my perceptions, feelings, sentiments and translating them through line with subtle play of colour. My work is evocative and reflective of varying shades of human emotions. To bring out new perspective of emotions is my aim.

I was initially drawn to 'form'  by Karuna Shaha eminent contemporary woman artist of modern times   and equally strong woman herself. Having spent valuable time in her studio and ma'am herself showed me the way to express my thoughts without any inhibitions.  My paintings today adorn the walls of many art lovers across the world  including UK , Canada , Greece  , Australia , USA and Scotland  amongst others.
