An elderly nun in a white habit with blue borders bows her head, her deeply lined face resting against folded, weathered hands that hold a rosary and a dark cross. The finely textured, charcoal-like surface shows every wrinkle, while the grey, wall-like background gives the figure a quiet, humble strength. Four small blue candles glow around her like silent prayers. The strong contrast of bright blue and soft black and white brings a feeling of calm and devotion. A deeply moving portrait of faith, compassion and service, ideal for prayer rooms, institutions and quiet homes.
