Samba Prasad Biswas is an abstract painter based in Kolkata, West Bengal, India. His practice is rooted in geometric abstraction, where he explores the expressive potential of shape, colour, space, and rhythm to construct dynamic visual compositions. Through a carefully balanced interplay of geometric forms and vibrant colour relationships, his paintings create immersive spaces that evoke harmony, movement, and a sense of optimism.
Biswas earned both his Bachelor of Fine Arts (B.F.A.) and Master of Fine Arts (M.F.A.) in Painting from the Faculty of Visual Arts, Rabindra Bharati University, Kolkata, securing the top positions in both cases.
With over a decade of professional practice, he has participated in numerous national and international exhibitions at leading institutions and galleries, including AIFACS, Birla Academy of Art & Culture, CIMA Gallery, Kolkata Centre for Creativity (Emami Art), the National Museum of Colombia, and Raum Art Center, Seoul, South Korea.
His work has been recognized with several prestigious awards, including the Rabindra Bharati University Gold Medal, the Prafulla Dahanukar Art Foundation State Award, the Eastern Foundation of Art & Culture Award, the Government of West Bengal Charukala Merit Award, the Fundação Oriente Visual Arts Award, and the Honorary Membership from The Art Association (TAA), Geneva, Switzerland. His artworks are in several collections in India and abroad.
