Baalmiki Bhattacharyya

When you are passionate it reflects. Baalmiki likes to call himself a “ photographer and an artist by passion, rest everything else by compulsion”. His tryst with photography began when he started shooting with his father’s manual film camera while he was still in school. His business degree and a career in management consulting didn’t dilute his passion in photography. And over the years his passion for the art combined with his right brain orientation fuelled his evolution as a photographer.
For a person who trained under the tutelage of Raghu Rai and the late Prabuddha Dasgupta and is profoundly influenced by their work, getting an exposure into a variety of genres during his formative years in photography was, but natural. Hence his initial works reflected the genres of Street, Landscape, Architecture and Fashion. However over the last 5 years he has moved into the genres of commissioned theme based photography, Portraiture, thematic calendars and Fine Art Photography installations.

Baalmiki believes that Photography is an art, definable in its own terms. And art is life. And when art meets passion, memorable stories are made. In all genres that he has worked and continues to work, he tries to capture those moments in life and habitats in which pictures tell an unique story regardless of the life or the lifeless form that makes the story, to be cherished forever.
