Aparajita Gopal is a Bangalore based visual artist working in charcoal and oils. She finds her inspiration in people, nature and everyday moments.
After working in biotech, she found her calling in art and went on to pursue a two year Art certificate from University of California, San Diego. She has also studied under renowned teachers like Jeremy Lipking, Casey Baugh, Suchitra Bhosle and Pramod Kurlekar.
Her art portrays the world around her that she observes, simple everyday moments that hold value yet often go unnoticed, family bonds that bring about subtle changes to oneself, and beauty for its own sake. She also enjoys exploring culture and traditions that keep one rooted, yet serve as a bridge to exploring that of others. She juggles her art career with the joys and challenges of raising two kids.
Aparajita is a two time recipient of the Kalanand Art Award and was selected to participate at the first India Art and Architecture Biennale, organized by the Government of India at Red Fort, New Delhi. Her artworks have also been exhibited in prestigious locations like the CSMVS Museum Mumbai, Lalit Kala Academy, Jehangir Art Gallery and Chitrakala Parishath. She conducts workshops in Chennai and Bangalore and has works across India and the US.
At the core of her work, whatever the theme may be, she tries to create with honesty, passion, beauty and hope.
