Asurvedh .

Delhi, India

Asurvedh, born in 1969, is a renowned Indian sculptor with a master's degree in sculpture. Over the last twenty years, he has continuously explored new dimensions in both subject matter and materials, believing that art is an endless journey of discovery. Even when he revisits a form or subject, he sees it as part of an evolutionary process, refining and redefining his artistic expression.

Though born in New Delhi, Asurvedh has a deep connection with rural India, where he finds intriguing compositions involving birds, animals, and old monuments. He is fascinated by the unique vitality of historical structures, even in their emptiness or decay. His sculptures often depict birds, animals, and human figures interacting with these monuments, symbolizing a continuum between past and present.

His rural background, combined with life in a metropolitan city and extensive travel, has enriched his artistic vision, making his creations both thoughtful and emotionally resonant. Among his recurring subjects, the bull stands out—he abstracts its form to enhance the combination of power and beauty, capturing its energy in a contemporary sculptural language.

Asurvedh has held numerous solo exhibitions and participated in over a hundred group shows both in India and abroad. His artistic excellence has been recognized with several prestigious awards, including the AIFACS Award, along with honours from various institutions.

Beyond his individual practice, he has actively contributed to the art community by organizing multiple group exhibitions under the banner of ‘Nav Siddhartha Art Group’ and other organizations, fostering artistic dialogue and collaboration. His dedication to both personal artistic exploration and collective artistic initiatives has made him a significant figure in contemporary Indian sculpture.
